WELCOME

About the Lord Kitchener Memorial Holiday Centre.

Kitchener’s is a unique Suffolk charity overlooking the sea in south Lowestoft, offering hotel style holiday accommodation to British and Commonwealth ex-armed service men and woman; British ex-merchant service men and women; and recently to British ex-emergency service men and women, and their spouses or partners, widows and widowers.

Kitchener’s is open from April through to the end of October. Week long half board stays, short breaks and bed and breakfast options are available.

Accommodation

We offer ten twin-bedded rooms with en-suite bathrooms, two of which have walk-in showers. The remainder have all the usual bathroom facilities with an over-bath shower and all the rooms are on the first or second floor.

Our half board option includes a full English breakfast and a three course evening meal in our air-conditioned dining room. In addition, there are tea and coffee making facilities in all guest bedrooms.

We provide complimentary WiFi.
An Ironing Board & Iron are available.

There are two television lounges and one quieter reading lounge which has a small library. A lift serves the ground, first and second floors and it will accept a folded wheelchair but it is too narrow for a wheelchair that is in use.

There are several steps up to the front door of the building and also some up to the dining room. Guests should be reasonably mobile and able to cope with these but there is ramped access at the rear of the building. Two mobility scooters are available to hire and a folding wheelchair is available free of charge but all must be pre-booked.

We believe that we are the first accommodation provider in Lowestoft to offer a charging point for electric vehicles.

Please contact the manager if you would like more information about any of the facilities available.

Welcome to the ex-Emergency Services...

We are delighted to welcome ex-members of the emergency services to the facilities offered by the Lord Kitchener Memorial Holiday Centre.

Until recently the Centre, at 10 Kirkley Cliff, Lowestoft, was governed by a Charity Commission trust deed permitting them to offer holiday accommodation to ex-merchant and ex-armed forces personnel and their spouses.

The trustees are delighted to announce that the terms of this deed have now been expanded to include ex-emergency service personnel. We look forward to welcoming retired police, fire service. ambulance and other emergency service personnel from all parts of the United Kingdom to the Centre in time for our 100th anniversary year in 2019.

For the background to this change see the latest section of our history.

Please click the image below to view a copy of our 2014 brochure, currently undergoing update to incorporate the recent changes.
